NWAC Makes Difficult Decision to Cancel Spring Sports

The NWAC has made the difficult decision to cancel Springs sports competition and championships. From the NWAC:

"The recent announcements by President Trump and Governor's Inslee (Washington) and Brown (Oregon), discussions with our member colleges and the NWAC Executive Board, effective 3/16/20,  The Northwest Athletic Conference decided to cancel all spring sport competitions and NWAC Championship events, effective immediately. This is a decision that we do not take lightly but in consultation with our constituents and partners, NWAC believes it makes the most sense.  It is our desire to do our part to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the interest of the health and well-being of our student-athletes, school personnel, and our fans.  We have student-athletes who are having to make significant decisions in a short and crowded time space and we believe at this time is the best way to proceed."

Member institutions are following their own state, local and school guidelines about gatherings, including such things as in person classes and team practices. As of March 16, 2020, Linn-Benton will not resume activities until at least April 10, but this is subject to change. LB's COVID-19 information page is here

There are eligibility implications and provisions being developed to accommodate the impact of this cancelation on student-athletes. However, no Spring sport student-athletes will use a season of eligibility for this year. More information will be released as it becomes available. We have set up an updates page with more athletics-specific updates and information at
