Game 2
EUGENE, Ore. - The Linn-Benton baseball team won the first of two contests on the road against Lane Community College, but will have to wait until Saturday, May 2 to complete the second game. The Roadrunners (31-6, 23-6 NWAC South) defeated the Titans (30-13, 20-9 NWAC South) by a score of 2-0 in the first game.
The second contest was postponed in the top of the 14th inning due to lack of daylight and will be resumed at Linn-Benton prior to the start of the two team's upcoming double-header series at Dick McClain Field. First pitch of the 14th inning is slated for 12:00PM.
Game 1: The visiting Roadrunners got on the scoreboard in the top of the second inning, as an RBI single from Nick Biagi scored Jackson Fera. In the third inning Kellen Segel's RBI single sent Bryant Starr across the plate to make it 2-0. That was all the run support needed for starting pitcher Lane Simonsen who was outstanding. The freshman allowed just four hits over eight innings of work while walking just one batter and striking out four.
The second contest was postponed at the end of the 13th inning and it is currently tied at 4-4 in the top of the 14th inning with Linn-Benton up to bat. That is where the action will start on Saturday, May 2 at 12:00PM.
After the completion of that game, the two teams will then play a doubleheader with the first contest scheduled for nine innings and the second scheduled for seven innings.
