ROSEBURG, Ore. - Linn-Benton men's basketball team hit the road to take on the sixth-ranked Riverhawks of Umpqua Community College and fell behind early. Despite a strong second half the team was not able to take the lead and fell 90-81.
The Roadrunners (7-9, 1-2 NWAC South) trailed at the half 47-32 but made a furious comeback in the second half as they cut the Riverhawk lead to just five points but could not get any closer as Umpqua (15-1, 3-0 NWAC South) responded down the stretch to claim the victory.
Anthony Best scored 24 points while Kaiden Ford was just shy of a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Braxton Long had 11 points and Gabe Townsend had 10 points for the visitors.
Linn-Benton took care of the ball on offense committing just seven turnovers, but could not keep pace with Umpqua who shot just over 50% from the field for the game.
The Roadrunners will return home Saturday, January 17 as they host the Cougars of Clackamas Community College. That contest is scheduled for a 2:00PM start time.
