ALBANY, Ore. — Grace Gaither scored 19 points and Elizabeth Chavez added 16 points, but the visiting Umpqua Riverhawks held on to beat the Roadrunners 70-67 in NWAC South Region women's basketball action Saturday afternoon.
The loss dropped the Roadrunners' overall record to 2-1 and 1-1 in Conference play. Umpqua is now 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the NWAC South.
Linn-Benton jumped out to a 21-7 lead after one quarter, but the Riverhawks battled back to tie the game at 32-32 at the half. Umpqua lead by ten after three quarter and extended their lead to as much as 14 points, but the Roadrunners battled back to within three with 14 seconds to go. Gathier's three-pointer with 0:03 left missed and Halo Parks' rebounded as time expired.
Next week's matchups with Mt. Hood on Wednesday and Saturday have been postponed due to Covid-19 protocols. No make up dates have been set yet.
