Linn-Benton Splits Southern Oregon Doubleheader

MEDFORD, Ore. - Linn-Benton volleyball hit the road to take on Southwestern Oregon Community College and Rogue Community College in a pair of south region contests this weekend. The Roadrunners (13-5, 4-2 NWAC South) earned a 3-1 victory over the Lakers of Southwestern Oregon on Friday, October 3 before falling on Saturday 3-2 to Rogue.

On Friday it was the host Lakers (15-4, 4-2 NWAC South) that got off to a hot start winning the first set 25-14. The Roadrunners showed poise as they rallied to win the next three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-21.

Saturday Linn-Benton struck first, winning the first set 25-23. Rogue (14-4, 6-0 NWAC South) would win a tight second set 25-22 to even the sets at one apiece. The Roadrunners rallied to win the third set 26-24 but the hosts were able to win the final two sets to claim the victory.

Linn-Benton will now have a five game homestand after playing five of their first six south region contests on the road. The Roadrunners host the Titans of Lane Community College on Wednesday, October 8 with first serve set for 6:00PM.
