Four Roadrunners Earn Postseason Accolades

LONGVIEW, Wash. - Linn-Benton baseball had four players recognized for their outstanding play at the NWAC Baseball Championships held at David Story Field on the campus of Lower Columbia College. Sophomores Kellen Segel and Bryant Starr were named all-tournament utility and infield respectively, while freshman Noah Scharer earned all-tournament outfield and classmate Evan Lehnert was named all-tournament pitcher.

Kellen Segel: The sophomore played second base and shortstop for the Roadrunners, while also performing well at the plate. Segel accounted for five total runs, two stolen bases and drew three walks with an on-base percentage of .391 and slugging 0.526. Segel's defense was nearly immaculate over 45 innings, with a fielding percentage of 0.952.

Bryant Starr: Starr had one of the more impressive offensive performances of the tournament while also playing steady defense at shortstop with no errors and 4 putouts to go with 9 assists. The Lebanon native batted 0.556 including two home runs, six RBIs and an on-base percentage of 0.733 while slugging 1.222.

Noah Scharer: Scharer was effective at the plate and in center field for the Roadrunners, converting all 15 of his total chances for putouts and batting 0.357 with an on-base percentage of 0.526. The Salem standout accounted for five runs and three RBIs in postseason play.

Evan Lehnert: Lehnert had two of the better performances for any pitcher at the tournament. Against Pierce College, Lehnert went seven innings allowing no runs and only three hits while striking out seven batters. Facing eventual champions Lower Columbia, the Pendleton product went five innings, allowing just one run and striking out six. Over twelve innings of work, Lehnert gave up just one walk.
