ALBANY, Ore. — Green River, ranked #1 in the NWAC men's basketball coaches preseason poll, defeated Linn-Benton 94-83 in non-Conference NWAC men's basketball action in Day 1 of the LB Classic Wednesday.
The Roadrunners (1-2) got 22 points each from sophomore Cade Smith and freshman Mykah Mendoza off the bench. Smith was 9-for-14 from the floor and also had nine rebounds and five assists.
Linn-Benton trailed 48-41 at the half. Green River (2-0) outrebounded the Roadrunners 54-40.
In the first game, Mt. Hood easily defeated Corban University's Gold squad 88-50.
All four teams are in action for Day 2 of the Classic with Green River taking on Mt. Hood at 5:00 p.m., followed by Linn-Benton and Corban at 7:00 p.m.
