ALBANY, Ore. - The Linn-Benton men's basketball team headed to Yakima, Washington for three games over the weekend at the NWAC Crossover hosted by Yakima Valley College. The Roadrunners (4-6, 0-0 NWAC South) fell to Bellevue College in the first game of the Crossover, before defeating hosts Yakima Valley. In the final game Linn-Benton lost in overtime to Grays Harbor.
Game 1: Bellevue (9-2, 0-0 NWAC North) got off to a hot start scoring 53 points in the first half to take a lead into the intermission. Linn-Benton could not keep up with the Bulldogs in the second half and lost 103-73. Anthony Best scored 19 points and Braxton Long had 16 points to go with six assists.
Game 2: Linn-Benton used a strong second half effort to defeat the hosts Yakima Valley (3-5, 0-0 NWAC East) by a score of 84-69. The Roadrunners led by just three points at the break, but outscored the Yaks by double digits in the second half to claim the victory. Best had 27 points and teammate Kaiden Ford had 17 points.
Game 3: The Roadrunners final game saw them drop an overtime contest to Grays Harbor (2-12, 0-0 NWAC West) with a score of 97-93. Linn-Benton saw five players score in double-figures led by the 23 points apiece of Ford and Best, but could not keep pace with Grays Harbor in the extra session. Gabe Townsend had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds and Long finished the game 15 assists to just two turnovers.
Linn-Benton will next host a pair of single games on December 17 and 18. On December 17 they will host Centralia College with a scheduled tip-off for 5:30PM. On December 18 the team will host Walla Walla Community College and that game is also scheduled for a 5:30PM start.
