ALBANY, Ore. - The Linn-Benton women's basketball team hosted the number two ranked Titans of Lane Community College and put together a strong effort but could not come up with the victory. The Roadrunners (5-14, 2-4 NWAC South) held a lead after the first quarter but could not maintain the advantage and dropped the contest 80-69.
Despite a strong defensive effort where they held the Titans (17-2, 5-1 NWAC South) to just 39% from the field and forced 16 turnovers, Linn-Benton could not keep pace through the middle two quarters of the game. The team mounted a rally in the fourth, cutting the deficit to single digits but were unable to retake the lead.
Lainie Bateman had 20 points, while Anneka Steen and Isabella Loitz put up 15 and 11 points respectively. The Roadrunners will next travel to face Clark College on Saturday, January 24 at 4:00PM. That game will be held at Portland Community College.
