ALBANY, Ore. - The Linn-Benton women's basketball team started strong and never looked back as they defeated Portland Community College 52-33. The Roadrunners (7-15, 4-5, NWAC South) had a strong defensive performance, holding the Panthers(4-19, 1-8 NWAC South) to 21% shooting from the field for the game.
The host Roadrunners built a 13-3 lead after the first quarter, and maintained that lead until the final quarter where they held the visitors to just 6 points to pull away late. Linn-Benton forced 26 Portland turnovers and recorded 18 steals as a team.
Anneka Steen recorded a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds while Lainie Bateman scored a game-high 16 points. Nalia Wagar had 11 points to go with nine rebounds. Linn-Benton will now travel to Chemeketa Community College on Wednesday, February 4 to take on the Storm. That game is scheduled for a 7:30PM start.
