Roadrunners Drop Road Contest to Storm

SALEM, Ore. - The Linn-Benton women's basketball team took to the road to face yet another ranked opponent, the ninth-ranked Storm of Chemeketa Community College. The Roadrunners (7-16, 4-6 NWAC South) fell 58-39 as a fourth quarter run sealed the win for Chemeketa (16-6, 6-3 NWAC South).

The Roadrunners struggled to get in a rhythm offensively in the first half, but stepped up the scoring in the third quarter. Trailing by nine points heading into the final quarter, Chemeketa wore down the visitors and extended their lead. Anneka Steen had yet another double-double, with a team-high 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Lainie Bateman also had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. The Storm's defense created problems for the Roadrunners as they recorded 14 steals. The Roadrunners will next host the Riverhawks of Umpqua Community College. That game is scheduled for Wednesday, February 11 with tip-off set for 7:30PM.
