Women’s Basketball hosts NWAC Crossover
ALBANY, Ore. - Linn-Benton women's basketball hosted a trio of games as they hosted an NWAC Crossover featuring teams from each of the four regions of the NWAC. The Roadrunners dropped a hardfought game Bellevue, before facing off for a third time against highly ranked Treasure Valley, before finishing the weekend against Lower Columbia College.
Game 1: The Roadrunners began the tournament by facing Bellevue College (2-7, 0-0 NWAC North). The Bulldogs used a strong second quarter to pull away from the Roadrunners (3-8, 0-0 NWAC South) and secure a 70-60 victory. Sadie Wendring led the way with 17 points while Lydia Gray recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Game 2: Linn-Benton faced the #7 ranked Chukars of Treasure Valley Community College and despite a strong finish to the game were not able to keep the pace with the visitors and lost 81-61. Wendring paced the team with 33 points, six rebounds and five steals while Anneka Steen earned a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Game 3: The hosts came out hot against Lower Columbia (7-3, 0-0 NWAC West) taking a 34-28 lead into halftime. However the Red Devils would use a big third quarter to take the lead and would end up with a FINAL SCORE victory.
Wendring scored 23 points and Nalia Wagar scored 16 points. Steen earned another double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Linn-Benton will next host their Roadrunner Classic on December 18 and 19. They will face Big Bend on December 18 and Walla Walla on December 19. Both games are scheduled for a 3:00PM start.
