ALBANY, Ore. - Despite a strong fourth quarter effort, the Linn-Benton women's basketball team dropped their south region opener to red hot Chemeketa Community College 81-68. The Roadrunners (3-11, 0-1 NWAC South) were unable to keep pace with the Storm (12-3, 2-0 NWAC South) in the second and third quarter as the visitors built a lead too large to overcome.
Sadie Wendring had a game-high 29 points to go with five rebounds, while Lainie Bateman scored 12 points to go with nine rebounds and four blocks. Linn-Benton committed 17 turnovers compared to just six for the visitors but defended the three point line well, holding Chemeketa to just 14% from beyond the arc.
Linn-Benton will now travel to Portland Community College on Saturday, January 10. That game is scheduled for a 4:00PM tip-off.
