PORTLAND, Ore. - Playing at Portland Community College due to a relocation, the visiting Linn-Benton women's basketball team used a strong fourth quarter performance to win 58-50 against Clark College. Leading by just two points after three quarters, a 14-8 fourth quarter led the Roadrunners (6-14, 3-4 NWAC South) to victory.
The visitors took a 32-26 lead into halftime, but the Penguins (7-14, 3-5 NWAC South) trimmed the lead to just two points going into the final quarter. Linn-Benton were superb in the final ten minutes defensively, forcing Clark to shoot just 11% in the fourth quarter and made seven of eight free throws down the stretch to come out with the win.
Sadie Wendring led the way with 27 points and Anneka Steen scored eight points to go with 10 rebounds. The Roadrunners defended well, holding the Penguins to just 24% shooting from the field and 2-26 from beyond the arc.
Linn-Benton next travels to Southwestern Oregon Community College as they face the Lakers on Wednesday, January 28. That game is scheduled for a 7:30PM start in Coos Bay.
