ALBANY, Ore. - The Linn-Benton women's basketball team used a fourth quarter run to defeat sixth ranked Umpqua Community College at home by a score of 75-68. The Roadrunners (8-16, 5-6 NWAC South) jumped out to a 19-15 lead after the first quarter but the Riverhawks (17-7, 8-3 NWAC South) chipped away at the deficit to tie the contest heading into the final quarter.
The host scored 26 points in the final ten minutes of the game and came away with the victory. Five Roadrunners reached double-figure scoring, led by the 23 points of Sadie Wendring. Lainie Bateman had 13 points while Nalia Wagar and Zoee Howard each had 10 points.
Anneka Steen was just two assists shy of a triple-double as she scored 10 points to go with 12 rebounds and eight assists. Linn-Benton was disruptive on defense, recording nine steals and eight blocks while holding the visitors to just 34% shooting from the field for the game.
Linn-Benton will next host the Penguins of Clark College on Saturday, February 14. That game is scheduled for a 4:00PM start.
