ALBANY, Ore. - After a slow start the Linn-Benton women's basketball team caught fire in the final two quarters, turning a two point halftime deficit into a 76-58 victory over the Clark College Penguins.
The Roadrunners (9-16, 6-6 NWAC South) were lights out in the second half, outscoring the Penguins (10-16, 6-7 NWAC South) 26-15 in the third quarter and 25-15 in the fourth quarter. Lainie Bateman led the way with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Anneka Steen also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 18 rebounds, while Sadie Wendring had 15 points.
Linn-Benton was strong defensively, holding Clark to 23% from the field and 13% from behind the three-point line. The hosts also recorded ten steals and ten blocks.
The Roadrunners will next take the court against Mt. Hood Community College on Monday, February 16. That home contest is scheduled for a 6:00PM start.
