Roadrunners Finish Strong at Road Tournament

PASCO, Wash. - The Linn-Benton volleyball team was able to win two matches on a short turnaround on Saturday at the Coach G Memorial Invite held at Columbia Basin College. The Roadrunners swept Whatcom Community College 3-0 and then defeated Carroll College JV 3-1.
Linn-Benton (6-2, 0-0 NWAC South) earned a three set victory over Whatcom (2-6, 0-0 NWAC North) with scores of 25-18, 25-20, 25-23. Sophomore Annabelle Peterson had eight kills on .385 hitting efficiency while Freshman Lucy Schuller also scored eight kills on .444. Schuller also had a team-high nine digs and Freshman Josie Jenness had 24 assists.
In their second match of the day, the Roadrunners defeated Carroll College JV in four sets. Sophomore Amy Pappas led the way with 11 kills, while Freshman Mazie Reeser had 10 kills of her own to go with 10 digs. Schuller earned 19 digs and Jenness earned 26 assists and 11 digs.
After playing six matches in less than a week, Linn-Benton will next take the court on Sept. 12 and 13 as they host the NWAC Crossover Tournament in Albany.
