ALBANY, Ore. - Playing in their first home match of south region action, the Linn-Benton volleyball team were able to protect the home court with a 3-1 victory over the Riverhawks of Umpqua Community College.
Linn-Benton (12-4, 3-1 NWAC South) took the first set 25-17, but the Riverhawks (3-10, 1-3 NWAC South) stole the second set 25-20. The home team would bounce back with a strong third set, winning 25-10. Umpqua refused to go away, battling into the fourth set before falling 25-21.
The Roadrunners were paced on the attack by a pair of freshmen as Lucy Schuller and Mazie Reeser tallied 13 and 10 kills each. Klaire Bitter had a team-high 21 assists while Mia Monaghan had 12 digs.
Linn-Benton will now travel south to face Southwestern Oregon Community College on Friday, October 3. That match is scheduled for a 6:00PM first serve.
