Pair of Five Set Thrillers Caps Off Volleyball Weekend

ALBANY, Ore. - The Linn-Benton volleyball team capped off their final regular season homestand with two separate five set matches. The Roadrunners (20-6, 11-3 NWAC South) defeated the Lakers of Southwestern Oregon Community College on Friday, before falling to the Ospreys on Rogue Community College on Saturday.

Friday Linn-Benton fell behind early as the Lakers (19-8, 8-6 NWAC South) claimed the first set 25-22. The Roadrunners took the second set 25-18, only to see SWOCC take a 2-1 sets lead winning the third set 25-23. 

Linn-Benton rallied in the fourth set winning 25-19, then completed the comeback with a hard fought 15-13 victory in the fifth and final set.

Saturday, as the team honored their sophomores, Linn-Benton got out to an early lead winning the first set. Rogue (20-6, 12-2 NWAC South) would answer, winning the second and third sets. As they did the day before, Linn-Benton responded with a fourth set win, before falling in the fifth set.

The Roadrunners will conclude their regular season on the road with a pair of games. They will travel to Clark College on Wednesday, November 5 and then conclude the regular season on Friday, November 7 at Lane Community College. Both matches are scheduled for 6:00PM first serves.
